ABOUT
Discover the history, vision, and sensibility behind CENARYO.
Legacy & Vision
Cenaryo was born from the history of PLAGE, a French company founded on December 8, 1987, by Yves de Laromiguière, with production based in Aire sur la Lys, in the Hauts de France region.
For over thirty-five years, PLAGE has cultivated a unique vision for wall decor:
to bring beauty into everyday life, without ever succumbing to standardization.
Before founding PLAGE in 1987, Yves de Laromiguière worked in the wallpaper industry within the Galeries du Papier Peint Group. This was a foundational experience, during which a decisive intuition emerged:
"All the designs I liked turned out to be commercial failures,
and all the ones I didn't like were successes."
This led to a process of observation, analysis, and understanding the codes of mainstream taste, without ever compromising on a standard nurtured by art, architecture, museums, and excellent craftsmanship.
PLAGE was born from this fruitful tension:
reconciling accessibility with aesthetic demandingness.
Early on, the company distinguished itself with a profoundly innovative approach to wall decoration, rethinking both the product and how it is presented, distributed, and experienced.
Over the years, PLAGE has collaborated with major French and European brands, while developing a pioneering vision for wall decor:
creations conceived not as simple repetitive patterns, but as compositions capable of introducing narrative, emotion, and architectural presence into spaces.
Breaking Free from Repetition

At the root, a strong intuition:
"I was very bothered by the repetitiveness of wallpaper patterns."
As early as the late 1990s, PLAGE invested in the first digital printing technologies, paving the way for a new generation of wall decor.
This revolution allowed for:
- abandoning industrial repetition
- introducing scenes and compositions
- restoring a narrative dimension to the wall
Unleashing Creativity
In 2005, PLAGE launched an unprecedented concept:
decorative patterns to be freely composed.
The success was immediate.
"To offer our customers the possibility to build their decor
and express their creativity."
This approach marked a break from imposed decor:
the customer became an active participant.
A Culture of High Standards
Since its beginnings, PLAGE has been built around a principle:
"Twenty times on the loom, put your work back."
A high standard that applies at all levels:
- choice of materials
- fidelity to artistic intent
- manufacturing quality
- respect for artists
"Creative intent cannot be betrayed by manufacturing."
A Vision: Beauty as a Necessity
At the heart of the approach:
"Beauty speaks to the heart of man."
PLAGE champions the idea of beauty that is accessible yet never simplistic, capable of improving the relationship each person has with their living space.
Scenario: a new stage
Cenaryo is a continuation of this, while also marking an evolution.
Faced with the standardization of interiors and the rise of automated creation, Cenaryo offers a counterpoint:
"The meeting of an artist and the client's creativity."
Each work becomes a starting point.
Each space, a composition.
PLAGE is today:
- a recognized French player
- a leader in several segments of wall decor
- a pioneer in on-demand production technologies
With a unique model:
→ produce only what is ordered
→ no stock, no overproduction
→ with great creative freedom
Cenaryo continues a story.
That of a company that, for over thirty years, has sought to reconcile:
excellence, innovation and emotion.
